Death Battle RoosterTeeth

I interned at Death Battle which is an animation studio in RoosterTeeth. I worked at Death Battle for 6 months from April to September 2019 as a 3D art intern. At Death Battle I was in charge of collecting and editing prior created assets in Maya, setting up environments and cinematics in Unreal, creating and placing effects for the animations in Unreal, and also rendering out hundreds of shots from Unreal. I worked on three main battles: Weiss vs. Mitsuru, Dragonzord vs. Mechagodzilla, and Mightguy vs. All Might. These battles have over 7 million views total on Youtube and premiered on RoosterTeeth's FIRST website. The images shown on this page feature the work I put into Dragonzord vs. Mechagodzilla. The second 3D intern and I were given free reign over this fight and in the end we were both fairly happy with it. While I assisted in mostly all aspects of the animation my main focus and task was handling the creation, lighting, and rendering of the many cockpits in the scene. I also worked diligently each time Mechagodzilla shot a missile or moved using his jet-pack and animated the effects for those. I was also the lead of many of the impact effects such as Dragonzord's smokey steps and their candy cane smokestack face off.  Lastly I took on the lead of the vfx on this animation and made a list of all of the shots, prioritized the fx needed for the shots, and then created a key so that we could keep track of who was working on what.
